South Africa is more than just a safari destination. It’s also a place where you can immerse yourself in the continent’s rich cultural heritage. With diverse cities and towns like Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth as well as national parks like Kruger National Park, there’s no shortage of things to do when visiting South Africa.

Johannesburg
Johannesburg, South Africa’s largest city and the country’s commercial hub, is known as “The City of Gold.” The city has a rich cultural heritage with its roots stretching back to the 1800s when it was established as a mining town. Today Johannesburg is home to a vibrant art scene and many museums.
Johannesburg has some of South Africa’s best restaurants serving up traditional African cuisine alongside Western fare.
Durban
Durban is the largest city in KwaZulu-Natal, a province on South Africa’s east coast. It has become known for its beaches and nightlife, but it also has a vibrant arts and culture scene that dates back to the early 20th century. The Durban Botanic Gardens, founded in 1854, are home to more than 1 million plants from around the world; they’re open all year round (except during Christmas).
The South African National Gallery houses works by artists like William Kentridge, William Dobell and Irma Stern–and it hosts temporary exhibitions featuring international artists as well.
Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa, and it’s home to many animals that are considered “the Big Five.” The Big Five refers to the five most dangerous animals in Africa: lion, elephant, buffalo (or rhino), leopard and hippopotamus. There are many lodges and campsites within the park where you can stay if you want an authentic experience but still have access to electricity and running water.
There are also many activities available within Kruger National Park–from walking safaris through open savannahs to canoeing down rivers or horseback riding through dense bushveldt. There are over 800 species of birds in this park too!
The accommodation options vary from luxury tents with en suite bathrooms all the way down to basic tented camp sites with shared facilities only – so whatever budget suits your needs there will be something available for everyone here!
Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth is the second largest city in South Africa and is known as the Friendly City. It’s a popular tourist destination, with many attractions including beaches, safaris and nature reserves. The city also has numerous museums and art galleries that showcase local artists’ work.
The Port Elizabeth Stadium was built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup; it’s now home to Eastern Province Rugby Union (EPRU) teams – one of which you may have seen competing against Western Province at Newlands Stadium during last year’s Currie Cup final!
